Michalaki Estate

The Michalaki Estate, one of the largest and most modern winemaking units in Crete, but also in the entire country, is located in a charismatic land for the cultivation of vines, 25 kilometers south of Heraklion.

On the slopes of the valley, of the Holy Monastery of Agios Georgios of Epanosifi, at an altitude of 550 meters, stretches a single mountainous area of 450 acres, which historically was the vineyard that belonged to the large shareholding of the monastery.

The cool northern winds of the Aegean, combined with the altitude of the area, create a special microclimate there and compose a unique terroir that offers the maximum to the vines.

At the other end of the valley in Archanes, it dominates untouched in time since 1600 BC. , the ancient bathypetro wine press that was part of a Minoan mansion located there, an element that proves that the area had a long tradition in viticulture and in general in the agricultural sector.

The estate has a production and storage capacity of 6,000 tons with state-of-the-art technological equipment such as control systems temperature, creating an inert environment, automating the distribution of grapes and must, static deliming with cooling and cleanliness.
